Welcome to the second issue of Connections, our new e-mail newsletter, and thank you to the many "subscribers" who sent us comments and suggestions for future issues. I am pleased to highlight an introduction to the three Trustees who have shaped the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust since its inception in 1997 - Frank E. Russell, Nancy M. Russell and Carol P. Schatt. From the initial design of the Trust's mission statement, which is based on Mrs. Pulliam's historical charitable interests, to their approval of every grant made by the Trust, which today represents more than $90 million to 554 nonprofit organizations in Arizona and Indiana, they are preserving Nina Mason Pulliam's legacy. more>>

Frank E. Russell, Nancy M. Russell and Carol Peden Schatt shared special relationships with Nina Mason Pulliam. They were selected as Trustees to continue her legacy of helping people in need, protecting animals and nature, and enriching community life in her home states of Arizona and Indiana. more>>

The Trust is one of a few grant makers in Arizona and Indiana that partners with organizations working on behalf of the environment. From the broad reaches of the Grand Canyon in Arizona to the unique Brown County Hills in Indiana, Trust grants range from hands-on restoration and conservation efforts to environmental education for youth and adults alike. more>>

Nine Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy Scholars received their degrees in May; one Scholar at Arizona State University; one Scholar at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis; four Scholars at Ivy Tech State College - Central Indiana; and three Scholars at Maricopa Community Colleges in metropolitan Phoenix. There are currently more than 100 students participating in the Nina Scholars program. more>>
