Welcome to this special edition of Connections that introduces the Trust’s 2008 annual report.
This is the first time we are exclusively publishing our annual report online. Something else also is different—rather than waiting until this summer when the Trust’s audited financial statements become available, we are releasing this report containing an unaudited financial summary. We will forward complete audited statements via Connections as soon as they are available later this year. Why not wait to go public until the traditional full report is complete? Because we think it important to be as timely as possible with our communications and 2008 seems a long time ago, given the stressful economic environment we all currently are experiencing.
As we reported earlier this year, the Trust actually began adjusting its grantmaking priorities last fall as we sensed that 2009, and likely 2010, would challenge the entire nonprofit sector, both grantees and grantors, to do more with less through ingenuity, sacrifice and collaboration. We continue to be impressed with our grantees’ responses thus far and pledge to look for more ways to be supportive and responsive.
Because we share common community interests, it is our hope you will forward this e-mail to your colleagues, trustees and others whom you think would be interested in knowing more about the Trust and especially its grants profile.
As always, we welcome your questions and comments.
Thanks for reading and sharing this 2008 annual report.
